NS2PC: Launching ceremony of production and business in the year of the Dragon

On the morning of February 19, 2024, NS2PC held a launching ceremony to launch production at the early Spring of the year of the Dragon (2024).

Attended the Ceremony,

  • On NS2PC's side: Mr. Chung Kook Choi - CEO, Mr. Yasuaki Watanabe – EVP/CFO, Mr. Michael W. Savidge – EVP/PGM and members of NS2PC's Board of Directors, representatives of the departments.
  • On Thanh Hoa province's side: Mr. Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Tien Lam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Tien Hieu, Head of Thanh Hoa Economic Zone and Industrial Zones Committee, Mr. Nguyen The Anh, Chairman of Nghi Son Town People's Committee, along with leaders of departments and branches of TH province, People's Inspectator Committee and Nghi Son Town.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Chung Kook Choi – CEO&President of NS2PC is very honored that NS2PC is chosen to hold launching ceremony of production and business in the early spring of Dragon Year 2024 and welcomed the delegation of leaders of Thanh Hoa province attended, encouraged, and wished the factory's employees a happy new year.

In 2023, due to many economic recesssion and inflation in the world, but with the efforts of the Board of Directors, engineers and workers of NS2PC; With the responsible cooperation and assistance of the Central and Thanh Hoa provincial governments and local communities, NS2PC has overcome many difficulties and challenges.

Specifically, by the end of 2023, with more than 5,000 hours of operation of 2 units, the plant has generated and transferred more than 6.2 billion kWh to the national grid, exceeding the target of more than 100 million kWh. Thanks to that, NS2PC has achieved the revenue of 14,440.7 billion VND, has contributed 1,164.03 billion VND to the state budget, and guaranteed jobs for more than 311 workers with an average income of 25.4 million VND/person/month. NS2PC ensures full insurance contributions for employees, paying more than 25.5 billion VND to the social insurance fund in 2023.

To continue the success of 2023 and the new year 2024, Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant with a maximum generating capacity of 7.8 billion kWh will aim to generate nearly 7.2 billion kWh to the national grid, over 1 billion kWh compared to 2023. And continue to support the community in socio-economic development and environmental protection through the Corporate social responsibility program (In the past 5 years, NS2PC has supported the community 26 billion VND). Mr. Chung Kook Choi said.

On behalf of Thanh Hoa province, Mr. Do Trong Hung, Member of the Central Committee of CPV, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee expressed his joy that in 2023, NS2PC's revenue  reached 14,440.7 billion VND; state budget  reached 1,164.03 billion VND; ensuring regular jobs for more than 311 workers with an average income of 25.4 million VND/person/month, supporting the community 26 billion VND to install clean water, support medical and educational equipment, organic farming production.

This is an evidence to the trust and mutual support between KEPCO, Marubeni and Tohoku Investors in particular and the Governments of Vietnam, Korea and Japan in general. NS2PC is the second largest company in Thanh Hoa, also the big force to put NSEZ to become one of the national energy centers. He emphasized.

At the ceremony, Mr. Chung Kook Choi and Mr. Do Trong Hung, on behalf of NS2PC and Thanh Hoa province, launched the production and business in the spring of Giap Thin year.

 

NS2PC is a joint venture by KEPCO Korea Electric Power Corporation (50%) and Marubeni Group (40%), Tohoku Electric Power Company (10%), Japan.

NS2PC was born in 2014 to build Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant (2.8 Billion USD) from 2018 - 2022, with a net capacity of 1,200 MW, an output of 7.8 billion kWh per year, providing electricity to more than 6 million households; After 25 years of operation, NS2PC will hand over the plant to EVN for continued operation.
