Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has highly appreciated NS2PC's contribution to ensuring the energy security and social welfare

On July 5, 2023, Standing Committee of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, and leaders of relevant departments and authorities have received the leaders of Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited (“NS2PC”) represented by Mr. Chung Kook Choi, President & CEO of NS2PC.

Mr. Do Minh Tuan – Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of NS2PC’s Directors Board, engineers, and staffs to overcome difficult challenges, especially during the COVID 19 pandemic, to successfully build the NS2 plant on schedule and in safe. NS2PC has been the top in supporting the development of local community economy and security, Mr. Tuan emphasized.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, thanked Mr. Hirohide Sagara, a former President & CEO of NS2PC and members of the Board of Directors to not only successfully complete the construction and operation of Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant but also contribute to the relationship between NS2PC and relevant authorities at all levels, contribute significantly to the prosperous relationship between Thanh Hoa province and Korean and Japanese investors.

Mr. Hirohide Sagara, a former President & CEO of NS2PC has acknowledged and appreciated the responsible cooperation of the Leaders: Thanh Hoa Province, relevant Departments, Management Board of Nghi Son Economic zone & Industrial parks, relevant communes and wards so that he and NS2PC can personally overcome the challenge of building Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant on schedule and safely.

Mr. Chung Kook Choi has expressed his honor to be respectfully welcomed by the Provincial Leaders. In his new position, he committed to inheriting the leadership experience of the previous Board of Directors to overcome the challenge of operating NS2 BOT TPP effectively, contributing to national energy security and economic and social development. He believes that: With the potential and advantages, dynamism and vision of provincial leaders and all levels, Thanh Hoa province will continue to be an attractive destination, attracting many Korean and Japanese investors in particular, and other developed countries in general.

On this occasion, Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee have awarded certificates of merit to Mr. Hirohide Sagara, a former CEO; Mr. Junho Choi, a former EVP/CFO; Mr. Jubok Lee, an EVP/PGM; Mr. Tomohiro Nakaji, a former Treasurer & GA Director for "Outstanding contributions to the socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa province in the period 2018-2023".

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that with the role, prestige, and influence of members of the NS2PC Board of Directors and their predecessors, they will continue to promote and introduce Korean and Japanese investors to invest in Thanh Hoa, is a bridge to strengthen relationships between Korean, Japanese organization and Thanh Hoa province.

NS2PC is invested by KEPCO Korea Electric Power Corporation (50%) and Marubeni Group (40%), Tohoku Electric Power Company (10%) to build Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant from 2018 - 2022, net capacity of 1,200 MW, output of 7.8 billion kWh per year, providing electricity to more than 6 million households; After 25 years of operation, NS2PC will hand over the plant to EVN for operation.

From 2018 up to now, NS2PC has supported Hai Ha commune, Hai Thuong ward, Tinh Hai ward and other localities with more than 1 million USD through the NS2PC’s Corporate Social Responsibility Program for socio-economic development and environmental protection.
