NS2PC: Commercial operation of Unit 1 - Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant

On February 10, 2022, Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited (NS2PC) organized the Commercial Operation Ceremony of Unit No. 1 - Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant.

Attended the Ceremony:

- On Thanh Hoa province's side: Mr. Do Trong Hung, Member of CPV Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and other key leaders of: Province, Nghi Son Economic Zone & industrial parks, Nghi Son Town, Hai Ha Commune, Hai Thuong Ward.

- On the investor side: Representative of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Korean Embassy in Vietnam; Marubeni Corporation, Tohoku (Japan),

- On NS2PC's side: Mr. Jubok Lee – EVP/PGM, Mr. Jungho Choi – EVP/CFO, Mr. Junsung Kim - CGM and key leaders, engineers, officers, workers of NS2PC and EPC contractor Doosan.

Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Project is the second largest project in Thanh Hoa province, including 2 units (600MW x2) assigned by the Vietnamese Government to NS2PC for construction since 2018, commercial operation in 2022. After 25 years of operation, NS2PC will hand over to the Government of Vietnam to operation.

This plant uses supercritical technology, which meets the Vietnam and international standards. In recent times, NS2PC has encountered many difficulties such as: escalating prices and Covid-19 epidemic. Thanks to the attention and support of local authorities and people, the efforts of officials and workers, NS2PC engineers, and contractors, the project was implemented safely and on schedule – Mr. Jubok Lee shared.

Mr. Junsung Kim said: Although NS2PC is borrowing money from international banks to implement the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Project, NS2PC is not only an investor but also a responsible member of the community. In the past 3 years, NS2PC has supported Hai Ha commune, Hai Thuong ward, Tinh Hai ward to implement Social Welfare programs (worth more than 1 million USD) contributing to promoting socio-economic development and environmental protection. Join hands with the community to build strategic relationships to become "Trusted partners, responsible neighbors".

Mr. Nguyen Van Thi, on behalf of the Provincial leaders, acknowledged and appreciated NS2PC for well implementing its commitment in building Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant on schedule and safely; and be a responsible member of the local community. He expressed his gratitude to the local people for joining hands with the Investor to implement the Nghi Son 2 BOT Power Project. On this occasion, he asked the local government and people to continue to cooperate and support. for NS2PC to complete the construction of Unit 2 and to operate commercially in July 2022; contributing to ensuring the regional and national energy security.
