NS2PC: Commercial operation of Nghi Son 2 Power Plant
Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant project with a total capacity of 1,200 MW in Hai Ha commune - Nghi Son town - Thanh Hoa province, was assigned by the Vietnamese Government to Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited (NS2PC) as the investor with a total invested nearly 2.8 billion USD, the 2nd largest in Thanh Hoa province (By Joint Venture: KEPCO Electric Power Corporation, Korea: 50%; Marubeni Corporation, Japan (40%), Tohuku Electric Power Company Japan, 10%). This is a project that strictly applies the national and international standards on safety and the environment, using supercritical technology with high efficiency, contributing to reducing coal consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental issues.
The project was started in July 2018, with the effort by working at day and night of experts, engineers, workers of the Investor and contractors; The attention and support of local authorities and people to promptly resolve arising problems. Until now, the Project has reached its destination on schedule and safely (more than 18 million safe hours). Previously, Unit 1 (600MW) was commercially operated from January 11, 2022.
On July 13, 2022, NS2PC has tested the initial reliable capacity of the Plant with the witness of EVN experts and independent consultants. Mr. Jubok Lee, EVP/PGM of NS2PC, said that the plant's initial Reliable Capacity test results reached 1,200 MW (Net Capacity). The plant officially goes into commercial operation from July 14, 2022.
This is an important event not only for the Investor, but also for Thanh Hoa province and Vietnam's electricity industry. The plant will contribute significantly to regional and national energy security, promoting socio-economic development in the area and country.
Investor NS2PC will operate the Plant for the next 25 years, then hand it over to the Vietnamese Government for continued operation. In addition to the safety and environmental standards mentioned above, NS2PC is considered a pioneer in implementing the Corporate Social Responsibility Program in the area, supporting the local socio-economic development and environmental protection since its commencement. In the past 4 years, NS2PC had supported Hai Ha commune, Hai Thuong ward, Tinh Hai ward with more than 100 projects, worth more than 1 million USD such as: Installing clean water pipeline and water meters for 2,856 households in Hai Ha commune and Hai Thuong ward; currently 100% of people in Hai Ha commune have clean water; Supported medical equipment and ventilators for medical examination and treatment and Covid-19 epidemic prevention; Periodic medical examination for women and the elderly.
Supporting outdoor equipment and toys for all levels, awarding 300 scholarships to students overcoming difficulties. Sponsored training for 413 fishermen to obtain captain's certificates, trained people to make bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides from locally available materials, and gave nearly 2,000 gifts each holiday, such as Tet holiday. poor people, war invalids and martyrs day...
