Teachers and Students of Tinh Hai Secondary School Visit Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant

On the morning of April 11, 2026, Mr. Michael W. Savidge – Executive Vice President of NS2PC and General Plant Manager of Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant – welcomed a delegation of 140 ninth-grade students and teachers from Tinh Hai Secondary School. The delegation was led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan, Vice Principal of the school.

This is part of the school’s local education program, enabling students not only to visit a key energy project in the area but also to gain early career orientation,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan.

Mrs. Ngan visited the Plant

After providing an overview of the Plant and answering questions from the students and teachers, Mr. Michael W. Savidge expressed his pleasure in hosting such an energetic group. He also congratulated the students for gaining initial insights into the electricity generation proces, an essential source of energy used daily by every household.
When I was your age, I had never had the opportunity to visit a large-scale plant or understand how electricity was produced,” he shared.

He encouraged the students to continue studying hard to achieve their dreams, support their families, and contribute to the development of their hometown and country. He noted that some of them may one day take on the roles of engineers, workers and mine within the plant and the company.

The delegation was then guided by the plant’s engineers to explore its functions, operations, and power generation processes, with particular emphasis on strict environmental protection and safety standards in compliance with national and international regulations.

My first impression of the plant is its cleanliness, followed by the openness and thoughtful hospitality of the management and engineering team. Although I do not have technical expertise to comment in depth, it is clear that advanced technology, skilled personnel, and rigorous processes are what create such a distinction,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan remarked.

The visit to Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant was a valuable hands-on learning experience. It helped me better understand the electricity generation process using modern technology, as well as the importance of environmental protection. It has also inspired me to study harder so that I can become an engineer at the plant in the future,” shared Le Ngoc Minh Thu, class monitor of Class 9A.

What surprised me the most is that the plant uses advanced technology to save fuel, especially its very strict exhaust gas and wastewater treatment systems that meet environmental standards. This has helped ease my concerns about thermal power plants causing environmental pollution,” said Cao Le Thien Phu, class monitor of Class 9B.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Dung, a student of Class 9A, said: “I feel proud that my hometown has such a modern thermal power plant, contributing to ensuring the country’s energy security.”
