NS2PC Excutive Vice President : “We meet each other through the path of learning”

“We are able to meet here today thanks to our shared efforts in overcoming difficulties in learning,” said Mr. Michael W. Savidge, Executive Vice President of NS2PC and Plant General Manager of the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant, at the NS2PC Scholarship Award Ceremony for 100 students who have overcome hardship and/or achieved outstanding academic results. The event was organized by the People’s Committee of Nghi Son Ward on the morning of December 4.

Attending the ceremony were key leaders of the Party Committee, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, the Division of Culture – Society, and related departments of Nghi Son Ward; leaders of local schools including Hai Ha Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary Schools; Hai Thuong Kindergarten and Primary School; Nghi Son Secondary & High School; along with the 100 selected students receiving scholarships.

“Just like all of you here today, I too once had to study hard and overcome many challenges before having the opportunity to come to Vietnam to work with the leaders of this ward and meet and talk with you here,” Mr. Michael shared.

He expressed his belief that with perseverance and a spirit of overcoming adversity, today’s students will, in the near future, become experts and entrepreneurs in Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, and the vast United States—where, he said, opportunities are always open to welcome young people who are eager to learn and grow.

On this occasion, Mr. Michael also praised the determination and resilience of students from Nghi Son Ward—many of whom have grown to become teachers, journalists, engineers, doctors, successful entrepreneurs, military officers, farmers, and skilled chefs. Notably, more than 10 talented engineers from the ward are currently contributing to the safe and reliable operation of the Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant.

Chairing the ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Hoàn, Vice Chairman of the Nghi Son Ward People’s Committee, expressed gratitude on behalf of the local authorities and residents for NS2PC’s continued trust, support, and contributions to the ward’s “Nurturing Dreams” Scholarship Fund over the years.

“Although the NS2PC scholarship is not large in material value, it carries significant meaning. It reflects the care, attention, encouragement, and support from the Nghi Son Ward authorities, the Ward’s Study Promotion Association, and NS2PC, helping our students soar higher, go further, and achieve success in life,” Mr. Hoàn emphasized.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Đào Văn Bắc, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Nghi Son Ward Party Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated NS2PC’s support for the ward’s socio-economic development and environmental protection over the years. He also commended the students’ perseverance and encouraged them to continue striving to overcome future challenges—an essential condition for anyone wishing to succeed in life.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 100 scholarships (each worth 1 million VND and one insulated water bottle) to 100 students of Nghi Son Ward.
