70 fishermen in Hai Ha commune received Boat captain license class 3

“The Boat captain license class 3 is small , but it has a big meaning. This not only helps fishermen to understand maritime laws and safely operates the ships when going fishing for living, but also contributes to Governments at all levels and fishermen across the country join hands to implement the Vietnamese Government's determination to remove the IUU yellow card (illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing) by the end of 2024 warned by the European Commission to warn Vietnam". According to the speech of Mr. Michael W. Savidge, EVP/PGM of NS2PC at the Closing Ceremony and awarding Boat Captain's License to 70 fishermen graduating from the Captain's Professional class organized by the People's Committee Hai Ha commune, Nghi Son Border Guard Command, Thanh Hoa College of Agriculture sponsored by NS2PC from July 4 - 12, 2024.

“The authorities continue to strictly handle unregistered fishing boats, or use illegal electric shocks, these actions not only violate Vietnamese law but also affect to the commitment between Vietnamese Government and European Commission. The European Commission will visit Vietnam to inspect the fight against IUU fishing in October 2024." Lieutenant Colonel Tran Duc Nguyen, Deputy Commander of Nghi Son Port Border Guard, spoke at the ceremony.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo, Chairman of Hai H Commune People's Committee said: The main income of Hai Ha commune is seafood fishing. In recent years, with the cooperation of NS2PC in sponsoring the opening of professional captain training classes for fishermen, up to now 483 fishermen have received a boat captain license. Hai Ha commune continues working with competent authority allow fishermen's fishing boats to be registered and managed in accordance with the law, contributing to fishermen's safety when going out to sea and improving people's livelihoods.
