NS2PC Executive Vice President welcomes Thanh Hoa Provincial Working Delegation

Thanh Hoa, May 6, 2026: Mr. Yasuaki Watanabe, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Nghi Son 2 Power Limited Liability (NS2PC), welcomed a Working Delegation from the Thanh Hoa Province led by Mr. Lê Đức Thái, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Thanh Hoa National Assembly Delegation, during the delegation’s official visit to Nghi Son 2 Thermal Power Plant.

The delegation also included Mr. Nguyễn Hồng Phong, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyễn Hoài Anh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Mai Xuân Liêm, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; together with leaders of provincial departments, agencies, and representatives from the Nghi Son Economic Zone and Thanh Hoa Industrial Zones Authority.

On behalf of NS2PC’s management and employees, Mr. Yasuaki Watanabe expressed his sincere appreciation for the strong support and responsible cooperation of Thanh Hoa provincial leaders in resolving challenges and difficulties arising during the construction and operation of the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant. Their support played an important role in helping the Project achieve on-schedule completion and maintain stable operations.

Mr. Le Duc Thai warmly inquired about the Plant’s production and business performance, while encouraging the management team, engineers, and employees to continue contributing to the stable operation of the Plant, thereby helping ensure national energy security and promoting the socio-economic development of Thanh Hoa Province in particular, and Vietnam as a whole.

Mr. Yasuaki Watanabe shared:

"Although Mr. Thai has only recently assumed his new position, he took time to visit and work with Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant, as well as other enterprises in the Nghi Son Economic Zone, to encourage businesses and gain a better understanding of their production and business activities. This is a highly positive and much appreciated signal, further demonstrating Thanh Hoa Province’s guiding principle: ‘Business Success – Thanh Hoa Development.’ We are confident that this will help attract a new wave of investment to the Nghi Son Economic Zone in particular, and Thanh Hoa Province in general, in the years ahead.”

Mr. Yasuaki Watanabe presented a brief overview of the plant’s production situation.

Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant has a total investment capital of USD 2.8 billion and is the second-largest investment project in Thanh Hoa Province. The project was jointly developed during the period 2018–2022 by Marubeni Corporation, Tohoku Electric Power Company (Japan – 50%), and Korea Electric Power Corporation (South Korea – 50%).

The Plant has a net generating capacity of 1,200 MW and an annual electricity output of approximately 7.8 billion kWh, supplying electricity to more than 6 million households. After 25 years of operation, NS2PC will transfer the Plant to the Government of Vietnam for continued management and operation.

The Plant’s electricity production target for 2026 is 7,787,795,993 kWh. In the first quarter of 2026, the Plant generated 1,828,748,346 kWh. Cumulative electricity output from the Commercial Operation Date (January 11, 2022) through the end of April 2026 reached 24,881,772,091 kWh.
