Nghi Sơn, Thanh Hóa: Responding to World Environment Day 2026

On the morning of May 30, 2026, the People’s Committee of Nghi Sơn Ward, Thanh Hóa Province, in coordination with the Nghi Sơn Port Border Gate Border Guard Command, Nghi Sơn 2 Power Limited Liability Company, and Oldendorff Company, organized a launch ceremony in response to World Environment Day, June 5, 2026, under the theme “Joining Hands to Make Nghi Sơn Cleaner.” The event was attended by members of the Standing Committee and Executive Committee of the Party Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Nghi Sơn Ward Police, the Ward Military Command, the Youth Union, the Women’s Union, and An Hưng Environment Company.

The program attracted the participation of more than 500 officials, soldiers, employees from various agencies and businesses, as well as a large number of local residents. This was a practical activity aimed at raising public awareness of environmental protection and promoting a civilized, green, clean, and beautiful lifestyle in residential areas.

On this occasion, NS2PC donated 490 trash bins to residents of Hà Bắc, Ngọc Sơn, and Cao Nam residential groups. These bins will help households and communities collect and manage domestic waste more effectively.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Michael W. Savidge, Executive Vice President of NS2PC and Plant General Manager of Nghi Sơn 2 Thermal Power Plant, thanked the People’s Committee of Nghi Sơn Ward for organizing such a meaningful activity and for creating an opportunity for NS2PC’s leaders and employees to take part in community-oriented social responsibility activities.

Mr. Michael W. Savidge made a speech

According to Mr. Michael W. Savidge, the launch ceremony was not only an opportunity for businesses and local residents to fulfill their social responsibilities, but also a chance for NS2PC’s staff and employees to interact and connect with local authorities and the community. In particular, the program also welcomed the participation of children of the company’s employees, giving them practical experience and helping them better understand personal responsibility for protecting the public environment.

Sharing her thoughts at the event, Ms. Trần Thị Nhi, who works at NS2PC’s office in Hanoi, said her family had participated in this activity for many years.

“In recent years, my whole family has regularly taken part in the program. This is a very meaningful activity, especially for my children, as it helps them better understand environmental awareness and each person’s responsibility toward the community,” Ms. Nhi shared.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in response to World Environment Day June 5 and World Oceans Day June 8, 2026, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Ngọ, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Nghi Sơn Ward, acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility shown by agencies and businesses operating in the area in joining hands to make Nghi Sơn cleaner.

Environmental issues are not something to be addressed tomorrow, but today. They are not the responsibility of any one individual, but of all of us working together every day.

Every tree planted, every plastic bag reduced, and every beach cleaned is a practical action in response to the global call,” he emphasized.
