Firefighting and Rescue Drill – NS2PC Proactively Responds to Emergency Situations

Thanh Hoa, August 13, 2026: Nghi Son 2 Power Company Limited  Liability (NS2PC) conducted a periodic firefighting and rescue drill at the Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Plant, with support from Area 2 Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department of Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue.

The drill aimed to raise awareness and strengthen the skills of NS2PC’s firefighting and rescue forces, employees, and workers; ensure a timely and effective response to unexpected situations involving fire prevention, firefighting and rescue; and contribute to maintaining safe and stable plant operations, particularly during periods of extreme hot weather.

The simulated scenario involved a fire at the plant’s oil storage tank caused by an electrical system failure in an oil tanker truck. Upon detecting the fire, NS2PC’s firefighting and rescue team promptly used on-site equipment to contain it. However, due to the hot weather and strong winds, the fire spread. NS2PC’s firefighting and rescue team activated Response Plan No. 2 and promptly notified the Area 2 Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team and relevant units to coordinate efforts to control the fire.

Speaking after the drill, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quang, Deputy Team Leader of the Area 2 Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team and Incident Commander, said: “Command and coordination were carried out consistently and flexibly in accordance with the response plan. However, this was only a simulated scenario; real-life incidents can be far more complex and unpredictable. After each drill, we gain valuable lessons and practical experience in handling emergency situations, thereby strengthening our knowledge and skills and enhancing our preparedness to respond proactively to situations that may arise in reality.”

Directly observing the drill, Mr. Michael W. Savidge, Executive Vice President of NS2PC and Plant General Manager of the Nghi Son 2 BOT Power Plant, highly appreciated the smooth coordination among the participating units, demonstrating a high level of professionalism. “The support of the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team not only contributed to the effective implementation of the response plan, but also provided NS2PC’s firefighting and rescue personnel with valuable opportunities to learn and further enhance their professionalism,” Mr. Michael emphasized.

He reminded the team: “Safety is vital to NS2PC, and therefore we always put safety first. These drills are one of the important factors contributing to ensuring safety in the future.” He also called on NS2PC’s Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Team to proactively develop response plans and remain fully prepared to deal with unexpected and unpredictable situations that may arise in the future.
